Any charges (other than traffic violations) against you: DWI while attending Appalachian State University
1. How would you propose to reduce gang activity and crime in Gastonia?
I support the current efforts that our police department to address crime and gang activity in our city. Plus:
- Putting more officers on the ground in troubled areas.
- Ridding the city of nuisance housing.
- Educating kids about gangs and the pitfalls of joining them.
2. Terms of office have been extended from two to four years for city government, where do you see projects in the city’s urban core (U.S. 321/I-85 entrance, historic downtown business district, Highland neighborhoods, Franklin Avenue and the Loray Mill) in four years?
When we talk economic development, one of the key interchanges to our city is at 321 and I-85. That’s got to be dealt with not only for safety reasons, but also for economic reasons. I see a swell of momentum coming downtown.
3. What do you think the most important infrastructure needs are in Gastonia, Gaston County, as the area continues to grow?
Countywide water and sewer is probably one of the most important elements of economic development for this county. If we don’t have ready sites for business growth, we’re not in the game.
4. What do you think are the two biggest issues in Gastonia?
- Economic development and growth: Continue to make Gastonia the ideal business location in the county.
- Infrastructure: I will pursue additional funding for road improvements and water and sewer expansion.
